John Cleary, Founder/Partner

Prior to founding A Player Executive Search in 2006, John developed his recruitment skills working for a top-rated search firm in Orange County, California. He played a major role in finding and placing talented sales execs within some of the tech industry’s greatest success stories. Before entering the recruitment side of the tech business, John spent 14 years in a number of sales and sales management roles, all within the tech sector. Most recently he was a regional sales manager at BSquare Corporation (BSQR), a Microsoft “embedded” partner. Before that he was the Regional Sales Director at Annasoft, another Microsoft partner. His first job after graduating from UC Riverside with a Business Degree was as a field sales representative for Canon Inc. (CAJ).

Tracy Rees, Partner

Tracy Rees joined A Player in early 2007 and brings with him over 20 years of experience in the high tech industry. Tracy has held a number of sales, marketing, and executive management positions, with leading technology companies such as Avnet, Okidata, and Commodore Business Machines. Tracy was appointed President of Microsoft’s leading embedding partner, Annasoft Systems, in 1999. There he led the company to profitability and orchestrated the successful acquisition by BSquare Corporation. After BSquare acquired Annasoft, Tracy was appointed VP of Sales where he was once again instrumental in leading a successful turnaround and return to profitability for this publicly held company. Tracy graduated from the State University of New York with a degree Business Management. He also served with distinction in a variety of roles in the US Navy, including Intelligence Officer.
